Preserve Exploration with Kids

Sara:
We used to hike a lot when we lived out west. For hours we would hike. And then we had a kid. We’d go on very short hikes, during which he would complain and my husband and I would be annoyed that we could never go as long or as far. Recently we figured out that we would all enjoy the experience more if we went at his pace and stopped often to look at bugs or throw rocks in the water. And if we don’t go very far, that’s okay. We’re spending time together, exploring the outside world, and learning something along the way.
