BECOME A MEMBER
You can become a member and join us in our efforts to preserve Open Space, the natural legacy of each of our four towns.
VOLUNTEER YOUR SERVICES
You can help maintain our properties, research potential gifts, publicize our efforts, or just walk and enjoy our properties. All kinds of talents are needed. Click here to reach our contact form, and tell us in the "comments" section about the kind of activities that interest you. Here’s a quick overview of some of our current volunteer opportunities:
Blueberry Pruners:
Blueberry pruning, March 2011
These volunteers prune the old and dead wood from our 800 bushes annually. This encourages new growth and keeps the bushes healthy. We usually have one or two pruning sessions in the early spring – March or April depending on the winter season. Pruners get first dibs on picking the ripe blueberries in the summer!
Invasive Species Volunteers:
Volunteers are alerted to a plant foreign to a preserve that is trying to take it over and as a team, tackle removing it. Past projects included garlic mustard and barberry, strangler vines and exotic wisteria.
Trail Maintenance Volunteers:
Volunteers repair trails within preserves in an organized manner, led by the preserve Trail Steward or in some cases, a trained trail expert. Projects include re-routing damaged trails, boardwalk building, and erosion repair.
After volunteering for a particular interest, you will be contacted by email whenever a project is taking place. If you are able to join the team on the day of the project, please respond accordingly, directions will be sent to confirm your participation.
Committees:
The Land Trust’s Marketing and Communications Committee is open to public participation. If you would like to help with our marketing, public relations, photography, copywriting, website, or events please let us know.
DONATE LAND
We accept donations that will preserve the rural character of our towns, provide passive recreation opportunities or preserve wildlife habitat. The Land Trust will proved stewardship and management of all gifts.
CONTRIBUTE
Each year the membership and public are invited to contribute toward the maintenance and upkeep of our many properties. This work is carried out under the direction of the Land Trust. Both small and large contributions are welcome.
