As Rebecca Solnit notes, walks are a way to extend the self into the environment. An awe walk helps us tap into the power of presence and of the universal. The focus on self diminishes, and the vast outer domain is allowed to enter. We notice both large and small remarkable things, dive into curiosity and wonder, and shift our perspective. The research on awe shows increases in well-being, an increase in establishing beneficial neural pathways, support to the immune and cardiovascular system, and a sense we are part of a broader cultural system. This walk will be guided by Jennifer Groves.
