Caring For The Land

Many of us forget that preserving land is only one part of the conservation equation.  Learning how to best manage these open spaces is becoming more important as invasive plants, deer and woodlands full of homogeneous tree species overwhelm the balance of nature.  As a land steward, Aspetuck Land Trust (ALT) is responsible for creating carefully designed management and conservation plans to maintain and protect healthy species and habitat diversity. 

We are currently improving over 40 acres of wildlife habitat from salt marshes to upland forests, watercourses, ponds and meadows.  Support from our member supporters makes all of this possible.  We also receive habitat improvement grants from the Natural Resource Conservation Service, a program of the United States Department of Agriculture.  

We have an obligation to preserve and protect this vulnerable land that provides habitat for plants and animals and provides so much enjoyment to the public.
