Green Corridor Discussion at the Greens Farms Garden Club

  • Greenfield Hill Grange 1873 Hillside Road Fairfield, CT (map)

Join us on Tuesday, October 1st for an informative talk on the Aspetuck Land Trust Green Corridor and how you can make simple changes to your yard to repair our world.

The Green Corridor has two major components:

Land Protection: Conserving and preserving undeveloped strategically located land parcels in the six-town region by either purchasing them or receiving them as donations. Through our strategic conservation mapping we have identified 32 properties for protection totaling 730 acres. In addition, we are working to protect a 705 acre forest block on the Weston Wilton border.

Land Stewardship: We want homeowners to see their yards as living stepping stones that provide food for wildlife like butterflies and bees that are making their way through the landscape. We plan to educate and motivate homeowners to plant native plants, switch to organic or zero-emissions lawn care services, and stop using pesticides. Involving thousands of individual homeowners will extend the overall benefits and beauty of the Green Corridor and will magnify and accelerate our conservation impact.

Everyone can make a difference, whether it’s donating land or taking care of their yards in a more sustainable ways.

Are you in the Green Corridor? Check it out with our INTERACTIVE MAP!
